Map of Campsites in Bulgaria

The campsites have been found after searching the internet. Many thanks to PJ, Addie and others. There is no guarantee of accuracy or any other information. For example one of the campsite coordinates put it in Upper Egypt!!
There are more campsites in Bulgaria but we cannot find coordinates for them.
BULGARIA
Places at which we actually stopped

The coordinates should be accurate, but no guarantees. Hopefully the photos will help to clarify the last few meters.

Bulgaria, Sakar Hills Campsite

Small, well kept, grass campsite with immaculate toilets and showers. Electricity and wifi. Very peaceful setting. Just right for a stop when entering or leaving Turkey or just for the sake of it.  Matt and his father Martin make excellent company and are both very helpful and good to have a chat with. A few kilometers down the road is the town of Harmanli with ATM and LIDL. We enjoyed our stay here.
We have heard a rumour that it is now closed.

This is not a recommended Night Stop as we were parked outside our friend’s house. The road was being rebuilt, courtesy of the EU, and we had to move sharpish on the Sunday morning to get out of the way of graders and bulldozers.

Bulgaria, Camping Zora Ob, Obzor

Our friends at Sakar Hills have an agreement with five other campsites to promote each other and provide a decent experience for travellers through Bulgaria. Sadly the people here don’t know anything about it. If we did not have the coordinates we would not have found it. There are no signs anywhere. There are two entrances to the camp and one is not usable by motorhomes. So we had to reverse back onto the main street and go to the other entrance. Again, this did not have a sign. The toilets are clean. The campsite is quite pleasant but is mainly for people in chalets or tents. The washing up facility is one sink in a small kitchen shared by everyone. The wifi is a waste of time but they say they will have wifi all over camp next year. The owners have a restaurant up the road where campers get 10% discount. The town itself is a small seaside resort.
Sorry, but we forgot to take a photo. The site is much better than this old Google Earth photo.

Bulgaria, Truck Stop Vidin area

Very handy for the Vidin Calafat ferry. 5 Bulgarian Lev for a night in a decent well-lit concrete truck park with showers and toilets. The restaurant was closed when we visited as they were holding a “banquet”.

Bulgaria, Bor Camp, Rila Area

Picture
N 42° 8.425'
E 23° 21.151'
Small campsite next to wild mountain river. It is very rustic. The “washroom” is outdoor and is supplied with freezing cold river water. The toilets are low-type and fed also with river water. We’ve been here before in summer and the family were very welcoming. There is an eating area where the family cook trout, etc. Worth a visit for €10 a night with electric. No internet. There are not many level areas and it is all grass. Close to Rilska Monastery.

Bulgaria, Kresna Truck Stop

Large area on right heading south. Not beautiful but lots of space. Many trucks called in for a truck wash so it was noisy until around 2200. Level tarmac and well lit. Several toilets but they are the disgusting French type! A shop at the entrance.
