Travels with a Land Rover
This is also one of our sites. We made it when we were travelling Eastern Europe, Greece and Turkey. There are some hints and tips on getting the best out of your vehicle based journey; from packing to clothing, from navigation to cooking. We hope you'll enjoy it; there are some great photos.
Searchforsites
This is probably the best website we've come across for finding campsites, night stops, parking, etc. Just put the name of a place in the box and you will see everything on one map. Click on the one you fancy and up come the details, coordinates, prices, pictures and so on.
All told it contains data from a dozen different websites. Marvellous, magnificent, excellent. The owner, Ian, deserves a medal.
Comfort Motorhome Insurance
I found this company to be the most helpful and economical regarding travel in Europe.
Automotive Electrical (and GasIt)
In addition to the obvious electrical services, Automotive Electrical also supply and fit GAS IT LPG gas bottles for motorhomes. Excellent service at a no-nonsense price. In fact at 50% of the price quoted in the South of England. Another good reason to visit Yorkshire.
ACSI
This website contains topical, objective and reliable camp site information. ACSI sell their books and a card which provides good discounts during off-season camping.
Turkey
A useful site to assist in choosing a campsite in this delightful country.
_GPS Points of Interest (POI)
Find thousands of places and download the data for your SatNav. There are lots of sites similar to this one. Just search for POI.
Campsites
Archies Camping is an excellent Guide to European campsites with more than 25,000 POIs to download for your SatNav.
European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
Make sure you are carrying the card. It entitles you to emergency medical treatment within the EU; if you are a resident of an EU country of course.
Yorkshire
The Dales, the beer, the food, friendly folk. And I'm biased of course. But Lonely Planet did vote it third best place in the world!
But it's not surprising since we came 12th in the Olympics, beating Jamaica, Spain, South Africa and Brazil... not forgetting Australia. Then there's the food: more Michelin-starred restaurants than anywhere in Britain apart from London.
Yorkshire boasts five big cities: Leeds, Sheffield, Hull, Bradford and York (as well as the cathedral cities of Wakefield and Ripon). It has the Dales, North York Moors, the Pennines and the Wolds. And the coast – Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Scarborough. Bempton, the Humber Bridge. Emley Moor Tower, a telecommunications and broadcasting tower near my Gran's home, is 330m high. That's 21m taller than the Shard in London.
We must not forget that the World Travel Awards gave Yorkshire the title of "Europe's Leading Destination 2013" ahead of Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Edinburgh, Florence, Istanbul, Lisbon, London, Paris, Rome, St Petersburg and Venice. So there!
Travel Health
Travel Health online is a useful source of data. You must register, but it's painless.
Destination Guides
We all know Lonely Planet, but here's another one, "Planet Ware" with lots of data and detailed maps.
Weather
Personally I find that the BBC often give better forecasts than the locals.
GPS Coordinates EU
This handy site can give you coordinates in several formats for just about anywhere in Europe by simply clicking on a map. Many other useful features.
Goggle Earth
A very useful tool for the traveller. Is the campsite really next to the beach? Just have a look. You may find that it is also situated between the busiest road in the country and the main rail line. It's only thanks to Google Earth we can look ahead. Amazing.
Gregg's Plateia
Excellent bar in Agios Nikolaos. Gregg and Freda are very welcoming and they have free wifi, which is so important to motorhomers. Please visit them when in the Mani in Greece.
Motorhome repairs
Hollako Karaván Kft is a small but perfectly formed caravan dealer in Budapest.
47° 26.939'N
18° 58.006'E
They have done wonders with Bessy. Over the last few months the gas part of the fridge stopped working, a couple of drawers were not staying closed when we turned corners, and the toilet door got stuck in the closed position. Luckily nobody was in there at the time. The damage was probably due to a) old age and b) bad roads in Eastern Europe. The owner, Jozsef Nagy, was very helpful and carried out prompt and economical repairs. If you are in the area, Hollako Karaván are just behind Tesco's large store on the M1 motorway leaving Budapest for Vienna. Jozsef does not speak English but some of his colleagues do.

Wild Camping UK
Keith, the kind man who prepared this very extensive site gave me a great deal of help in preparing the map under Our Journeys. His site has the same kind of map and we thought it was wonderful. It's nice that a fellow traveller and website worker will help us. Thanks Keith.
Have a look at his site... it's great:

More Gas
An excellent site for finding an LPG (AutoGas) station is http://www.mylpg.eu/.
It seems to be very comprehensive with maps rather than a list of town names. We know it is not up-to-date because we have bought LPG from stations not yet listed. But it does show that Greece only has 42 stations yet Germany has too many to count.

Our Tour
Julie & Jason Buckley, have an excellent website for long term motorhomes and fellow travellers. They have an interactive map on their site which stimulated us into doing our own. Take a look at their site. They have lots and lots of very useful information. Thanks for all your advice about making a map.
