Aire at Bourbach-le-Haut, France
N 47° 47.682'
E 7° 1.749'
Altitude 546 meters (1790 feet). This is one of PJ’s and is in a very pleasant location in the village next to the school and looking down the valley. According to PJ we should be paying €5 a night, but as we did not have water or electric it may be different. Nobody came to collect money. The photo shows a motorhome at the correct position in the distance.

First of all, it seems strange to us to be travelling in the western hemisphere. The aire is well lit tarmac with dump almost in the village centre. It’s very quiet and free. There is some paid electricity and the dump has to be paid for. Very convenient site for seeing the Mulberry harbours and the 360° Cinema. A must see place.

There is now a giant car park for visitors sectioned off for cars, buses and motorhomes. We were directed to the MH area. The place is a perfect car park. But cars pay for the hours they use. Motorhomes pay €20 for 24 hours. That’s the minimum. Be warned if you are only there for 4 hours, as we were. It’s tarmac and well lit but no other facilities. Toilets at the Information office.

We went for an Aire in Montauban but could not find it so headed for this France Passion site. Very large vineyard in lovely surroundings. We arrived late but the kind man waited for us at the entrance and guided us in. There are toilets and parking on level tarmac. No lighting. The shop was closed so we were given a present of a bottle of Rose. Lovely, kind English speaking man.

A very well maintained camp next to the river Somme. Lots of shade, pitches are grass with tarmac roadways. Well lit at night. Spotless toilets and showers were heated.
Two bad things: 1) the office is only open between 1800 and 2000. 2) they charge €3.50 for one hour of wifi, which they say is all over the camp. We didn’t bother and told them why.

But it’s free and it’s a short walk to the town centre. The entrance is guarded by a barrier. You must go to the Cultural Centre reception and ask for the code. When at the barrier there are two buildings facing you. Go to the left one.

TAKE CARE. THE ENTRANCE IS UNDER A LOW BRIDGE WITHOUT A HEIGHT WARNING. On the camp side is a sign stating 3 meter high.
The campsite is said to open 31March to 15 October. It was definitely not open 17 March but the Aire next to the entrance was. The barrier was raised and 8 motorhomes were enjoying free electricity. Tarmac car park with usual dump but the water was not working. The main road is quite noisy. If the barrier had been down we should have to put our credit card in a slot and be given a code to enter for 24 hours.

Well arranged Aire capable of holding about 100 MHs as well as many pitches for longer term camping. The site is very open and has no character. There are no toilets in the aire part. Good solid asphalt pitches and several dumping points. The entry and exit system is over complicated and you have to get on your knees to see the screen display for some strange reason. The cost is €10.00 a night and pay by card only. Sadly there are no frites huts unlike the old aire which has been destroyed.
