Places we stayed in Greece
We have stayed at least one night in most of these places. The coordinates should be accurate, but no guarantees. Hopefully the photos will help to clarify the last few meters. You can check out our Track Logs in Google Earth format for a little extra assistance.

This is one of PeeJay’s Night Stops. Scruffy dirt car park with a level concrete slab. Watch out for dropped nails.
The wifi listed on the PJ site is trying to work but never made it. A local cafe proved much better for the price of a coffee.

Pleasant little fishing village probably used by Greeks. Camped under Eucalyptus trees next to harbour. Sign stated “no camping” but locals said OK out of season (March). Good restaurants and bars. The wide roads are a very noticeable feature of the village. According to a local lady the streets were planned by a Belgian; the same man who planned the wide streets of Sparti.

Very pleasant campsite with usual facilities and bound to get even better. The owner is working very hard all the time. Sadly the wi-fi internet connection is the slowest we’ve ever experienced and costs €3 per 24 hours. To download a 40 minute movie took 6 hours. SKYPE was out of the question. €14 per night and €5 per wash. Even the washing machine was slow at over 2 hours per cycle.

Called “Camper Stop”. We had a very warm welcome and coffees from the grandfather who spoke French and his 12 year old grandson who spoke English. The disadvantages of the site are that it is not level and there is no internet. The advantages are several. First of all the friendly owners, then the proximity to the ancient sites. There’s water, electricity, a motorhome dump and a peaceful atmosphere. The entrance is on quite a steep hill but do not be afraid to follow the signs. In fact better signed than the ancient site. We did and our MH is 7.5 meters long. Although only 2 year old the site is maturing and worth visiting, especially for the price.

However the village was spotless, the beach was spotless and the people were charming. Do NOT drive through Petries, as the Sat Nav will suggest. Petries is very narrow. Take the new road, which is signposted.
Highly recommended.

This stop is one of Magbaz’s. It’s a small asphalt car park that’s reasonably level. The owners from the adjacent house close the gates at night “to keep the dogs out”. There is a recycling bin, water and electricity for the grand sum of €6. The wife, Annamaria, is German and speaks good English. In two or three minutes you can be at the museum, the archeological site, the main street and the tavernas.

Pleasant spot for a night or two near to Szeged in Southern Hungary. It's called Sziksós Tó. The facilities are a bit old style. There is a tap and a dump, but you will have to ask where... there are no signs. There is a very large thermal pool included in the price. Park anywhere under the trees. Electricity is available. The price is complicated depending on what you want... and there are always Hungarian tourist taxes to be considered. But there are showers and toilets. In season there is a bar and a buffet. We’ve used this place over many years as the base for our Hungarian Land Rover Club outings and we like it. Some of the staff speak excellent English if your Hungarian is not up to date !

Follow the GPS track. At top of hill is a disused quarry. Road turns right. 100 yards down the slope is a short lane. Park there. Don't go too far. There is a sign saying "méhek". This means there are beehives past there. The beekeeper came and said it was OK to stop there. No facilities but flat and quiet. No lights.

Small rough car park opposite side of road from the strand (beach). The area is next to some weekend houses. There are street lights. A walk around the lake is well worth the effort. Anglers' small huts and lovely views. The road from the main road does NOT look promising, but keep going.

Street near the Danube. A little busy early evening with walkers and cyclists, and the odd poser in his noisy car. But level and streetlights. Nearby is a large car park but it is not illuminated and is not level. Vác is a lovely old town to meander around.

Letenye Camp, Hungary
N 46° 26.057
E 16° 43.512
A small campsite next to the quiet main road with 3 thermal pools, lots of shade from mature oaks, very clean toilets and showers, a bar (not open when we visited) and 3 hours of free wifi per day. Plus a spotless kitchen with fridge, cooker and microwave. As we were not using electricity we got the price down to 5100 Forint (about £15). Another good thing about the camp is that we are just a couple of miles from the border. NOTE: The Google Earth view was taken before the camp was built.

Planik Camp, Razanac, Croatia
N 44° 16.672

A quite large campsite in a pine forest just 10 minutes walk from the sea in Razanac and a 20 minute drive to Zadar. It’s difficult to find a level spot between the pine-needle covered rocky ground. But overall the site is good value for money. The toilets are clean, there are taps and electricity points all over. During the season there is a simple bar/restaurant. The staff are pleasant and very helpful, particularly Maria, the receptionist. The Manager, Andreas, was very kind when he brought a satellite system from home so that I could watch the Belgian Grand Prix. The system in camp had been destroyed by a thunderstorm the previous day.

Bor Autocamp, Krk, Croatia
N 45° 1.417
E 14° 33.650
A very pleasant and well run campsite. It has everything that one needs in a camp except shade. There’s a pool and a bar and a shop. It’s a bit of a trek into town (said to be 10 minutes) and more of a trudge up the hill on the way back. Sadly the starting price for internet is €2.00 and then you have to sit on a bench outside reception to use it.Another annoying feature is that the electricity hookup is in a locked cupboard. So when we left we had to go to reception and ask them to open the cupboard to get our cable back.

Peaceful surroundings of a massive forest. Do not let your SatNav take you down a forest track! Enter Postojna and follow signs for the Cave. 2 kilometers after the car parks for the cave is a turning to the right. This road is tarmaced. Full facilities, including pool. WiFi is available near the restaurant, however we could not download emails for some reason. Staff are very helpful.

Bled Camping, Slovenia

A very well organised "professional" campsite. They even have dog washing rooms! The charges are simply based on how many people are staying. As easy as that. The views are outstanding and the facilities are excellent. There is even a full-blown supermarket at the gate. None of the nonsense of registering with the Police. 5-star. Free WiFi but a bit slow sometimes.
